Overview

Motor mount brackets machined to drawing

Motor mounts locate an engine, e-motor or e-axle and carry its torque reaction and inertia loads into the subframe or body. DekAutomotive machines them to your drawing for OEM and EV programs and motorsport engineering teams, from engineering samples to repeat production.

You get the metal parts with material traceability and inspection reports on request; the mount design and its validation stay with your team. Mounts are part of our powertrain components and, for e-drives, our EV components.

What we machine

Types of custom motor mounts we machine

  • 01
    Engine mount brackets
  • 02
    E-motor and e-axle brackets
  • 03
    Torque-reaction links
  • 04
    Transmission mounts
  • Engine mount brackets

The metal bracket that holds a rubber or hydraulic isolator between engine and subframe or body, machined to your drawing with its isolator bore, bolt pattern and mounting faces checked on CMM.

  • E-motor and e-axle brackets

Brackets and arms that carry an electric drive unit, often bolted to the EV motor housings they support, and quoted with stator supports for e-motors. Bolt patterns are measured on CMM against the drawing datums.

    EV motor housings
  • Torque-reaction links

Dog-bone or torque rod links that limit drive unit roll under acceleration and regenerative braking. We machine each link to your drawing; its bores are checked with bore gauges and CMM.

  • Transmission mounts

The gearbox-side bracket of a three- or four-point mounting system, machined to your drawing with the same checks on bores, bolt pattern and mounting faces as the engine-side brackets.

Critical features of custom motor mounts

  • 01

    Isolator or bushing bore

Diameter and press-fit tolerance set the isolator retention. We check each bore with a bore gauge and confirm it on CMM.

  • 02

    Bolt pattern to chassis datums

True position per ASME Y14.5 / ISO 1101 decides whether the drive unit lands where the vehicle model puts it. We measure the bolt pattern on CMM against the engine and chassis datums.

  • 03

    Mounting faces

Flatness of the mounting faces gives an even clamp load on the bolted joint. We measure face flatness on CMM against the drawing.

  • 04

    Fillet radii and edge break

Stress concentrations in the load path start fatigue cracks, so radii and edge breaks follow the drawing. We check them with radius gauges and visual inspection.

  • 05

    Mounting bolt threads

Thread quality sets the clamp load the mounting bolts can hold. Threads are checked with go / no-go gauges to the drawing.

Materials

Motor mount materials and blanks

  • Aluminum 6061-T6

Billet blank for engineering samples and low-volume mounts; light, easy to machine and anodize. Hard anodizing to MIL-A-8625 Type III or black anodizing to Type II.

  • Aluminum 7075-T6

Billet blank with the highest strength-to-weight of the range, chosen for compact e-axle brackets and by motorsport engineering teams.

  • 4140 and 1045 steel

Alloy steel 4140 and carbon steel 1045 from bar or forging, for high loads and stiffness in tight packaging at lower material cost. Zinc plating, black oxide or electroless nickel.

  • Aluminum A356-T6

We machine A356-T6 cast blanks to your drawing for repeat motor mount programs once the design is frozen.

Why Choose Us

Why engineers choose our motor mounts

  • 01

    Batch traceability

Every batch is inspected and keeps its material traceability.

  • 02

    CMM inspection

Bores, faces and bolt patterns measured on CMM against your datums.

  • 03

    Samples to repeat runs

Billet samples first, then pilot, low-volume and repeat production.

FAQs

Custom motor mounts FAQ

Upload drawings
Who makes custom engine mounts?
Contract machining suppliers such as DekAutomotive manufacture custom engine and motor mounts to the customer's drawing. The vehicle or powertrain engineer defines the design and its validation.
How much do custom engine mounts cost?
Price depends on material, blank type (billet or forging), machining time, finish and batch size. We quote per drawing and volume; there are no catalog prices.
Do you design the mount?
No. We machine to your drawing and give DFM feedback within 24 hours; design and NVH validation stay with your engineering team.
Do you supply the rubber or hydraulic isolators?
We machine the metal brackets, links and housings; isolators are customer-supplied or specified on the drawing.
What is your minimum order for motorsport or specialty programs?
The minimum order is set per part and stage, from engineering samples upward.
